BHS Exam Training
For anyone wanting to start off their own career in the equestrian industry, I am able to provide training for the other aspects of the BHS Exams. There are many different career pathways available through the BHS; Groom, Groom with Riding, Rider, Coaching, and Complete Horsemanship.

I am currently able to offer 1 to 1 training for all of the following exams. Theory training can be delivered either in person or via zoom, with the relevant practical sessions organised alongside. Alternatively, all training can be provided face to face. Please get in touch for more information.
BHS Stage 1 Care
The first of the BHS stages covering crucial topics such as health, identifying and profiling, grooming, tacking up/untacking handling, stable/grass care. The Stage 1 course delivers essential information for anyone thinking of getting their own horse for themselves or their children.
BHS Stage 2 Care
This Foundation groom qualification can lead to professional roles such as an Assistant Groom or Yard Assistant. Expanding on knowledge gained in the BHS Stage 1 Care qualification with new topic areas such as; an Introduction to Anatomy, Fitness and Presentation.
BHS Stage 2 Lunge
As part of the Foundation Groom Qualification, lunging can be a valuable way of exercising a horse. During this training, you will learn what equipment to use while lunging, and how to fit it, as well as a safe and effective lunging technique.
BHS Stage 3 Care
This exam continues to build on the knowledge gained from Stage 2, looking more in depth into yard management, anatomy, feeding and health and welfare.
Completion of this exam, along with the Stage 3 Lunge qualification, can lead to the following career options;
- Freelance groom
- Grooming for a professional rider
- Travelling Groom
- Discipline Specific Grooming
- Groom in a veterinary or welfare setting.
BHS Stage 3 Lunge
Continuing to develop your lunging skills from Stage 2 to lunge effectively to maintain and progress a horses way of going and education.
